Bharatavani 1.4

The Bharatavani App is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and is developed and managed by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) located in Mysuru, India.

This application is a key component of the Bharatavani Multilingual Knowledge Portal (www.bharatavani.in), which is dedicated to providing knowledge in over 120 Indian languages. The app sources its data from dictionaries published on the Bharatavani portal, with contributions from numerous governmental and non-governmental institutions. Currently, the app offers access to more than 40 text-based dictionaries, with an additional 100 dictionaries available in book format from 2015-16. CIIL plans to digitize these dictionaries for inclusion in the app in the near future. It is important to note that the copyright for all these dictionaries is held by their respective publishers, and CIIL has received the necessary permissions to host them on the Bharatavani platform.

To use the Bharatavani Multilingual Dictionary App, follow these steps:

• Accept the Terms and Conditions, then proceed to install and open the app.
• Enter a word in English, Hindi, or any supported language; relevant results will be displayed.
• Alternatively, users can browse dictionaries alphabetically through the menu bar options.
• The app also features an option for transliterating words into various language scripts.
• Further enhancements and additional features are expected to be implemented in the forthcoming updates.
